Sonora Lee and Andrea Whaley are multifaceted music teachers with a wide range of experience. Sonora has taught students of all ages and all skill levels in Texas and Australia for the past 20+ years. She currently teaches voice, and teaches piano in Austin, TX.
All ages can learn to sing and play the piano: elementary, mid/high school, college, adults and seniors, EVERYBODY! Learning music at any age can be a rich celebration of self-expression.
Individually designed instruction plans for voice lessons and piano lessons Sonora's students are always impressed with her individually designed music lesson plans. She works with her students (and their families) to evaluate the best approach for learning— combining goal setting with inspiring enthusiasm... and most of all, FUN! Sonora relies on a variety of teaching techniques which may include the Suzuki and/or Kodaly teaching methods.

About the music teachers
Sonora Lee: piano & vocal teacher
A little history... Born to a mix of Cherokee and Irish lineage, she remembers the midday Sunday dinners with aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. "We were playing music with guitars, harmonicas, spoons, etc.— and lots of singing (in harmony)."
Starting formal lessons at age five, Sonora 'lived' music in rural Missouri where she followed the natural process of growth via church choir, award-winning State Fair performances, etc., Then on to the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she received awards for Most Promising Education Student and Outstanding Vocal Performer. At her first Freshman conservatory piano jury she was advanced to the Junior level!
As a student, Sonora arranged and directed radio jingles, rehearsed ensembles for Kansas City churches, managed bands (rock 'n' roll and jazz), and coordinated rehearsal space for University students, including an 80-piece Accordion Orchestra. You thought finding a place for that new drum set was hard!
Psychology of Music became another favorite focus and ultimately led Sonora to San Antonio, Texas, where she became the Director of Music Therapy at the San Antonio State School. Working with the residents, designing curriculums, coordinating staff and supervising Music Therapy interns was rewarding work.
Today...
Sonora presently works at her Blue Frog Studio, where she teaches piano and voice, arranges music, and records. Her students have won awards locally and nationally for piano, voice, and composition.

Andrea Whaley: vocal teacher
Sonora is delighted to announce that her daughter, Andrea, has joined her at Blue Frog Studios as a vocal teacher! Having graduated from Berklee School of Music in Boston in 2006, Andrea brings a fresh approach to vocal pedagogy, as well as songwriting skills. She's a talented, well-educated, and proficient musician in many areas. Like her mother, Andrea has a passion for working with children, as well as adults.
